Born in Moscow in 1986 and influenced part by Russian culture, part by my own desire, I became interested in art at a very early age. Tuning into my interest, my parents always provided me with opportunities to explore and the supplies to fuel my passion, offering me my first art lessons.
My summers were spent with grandparents and cousins in Sochi and in Ukraine reading stacks of required books, exploring the countryside, the sea and the mountains. This is where my love affair with the country life, mountains and nature began.
As I started school, I dove into arts with a passion, pursuing various young artist shows and contests. After immigrating to Canada in 1998, I continued to pursue my appetite for art and was very lucky to be coached by a renowned Canadian artist who introduced me Canadian art history, oil painting and stained glass.
Throughout my adult life, no matter where I ended up or what other interests I chose to pursue, I always found myself returning to art.
My work has influences of the classical Renaissance, surrealism and modern art, inspired by artists such as Frieda Kahlo, Salvador Dali, Group of Seven and Georgia O’Keeffe. Rather than limiting myself to one medium or subject matter, I choose to explore art as a part of life and a means of expression incorporating my influences into my drawings, painting and other art projects.
